THE FIGHT

The crowd of 6,681, at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas greeted the verdict with a resounding torrent of boos.  Ayala, according to news sources felt he won the fight convincingly, even though Showtime announcers Bobby Czyz and Steven Albert, felt that Tapia had been robbed of the decision.

Tapia said, "I know I won,"  who closed as an 8-5 favorite at the MGM. "He didn't beat me. I boxed his (butt) off. I boxed the (crap) out of him. It wasn't close."

His trainer, Jesse Reid, felt the same way and said he was shocked to hear that Ayala was given the decision. Reid said that, in his estimation, that it was obvious Tapia won the fight going away.
