Friant, CA,
August 14, 2007 – After kicking off the “Melee on the
Mountain” boxing series in April with an unforgettable 12
round war between Isidro Garcia and Cesar Lopez, Table
Mountain Casino in association with Roy Englebrecht Events
is pleased to announce the return of the hottest new fight
series on Tuesday, September 18th, with an IBA world junior
welterweight title fight between current champion Adrian
Mora and former world lightweight champion Javier Jauregui
in a bout that has fight of the year written all over it.
Mora-Jauregui, a 12 round championship fight that headlines
an action-packed night of competitive pro boxing, will take
place at the Table Mountain Casino Event Center in Friant,
California. The Melee on the Mountain series was launched in
2007, and has featured both boxing and mixed martial arts
events that have met with a rousing reception from fight
fans. The September 18th event is the final boxing card for
the year, and will be followed by a mixed martial arts event
in November.
Ticket prices start at only $20 and are available at the
Table Mountain Casino Main Cage or online at
www.tmcasino.com starting at Noon PST on Monday, August
20th.
Unbeaten Colorado native Adrian Mora (19-0-1, 11 KOs) has
come up the hard way in his pro career, but after three
straight knockout wins, as well as victories over
highly-regarded Steve Quinonez and Marc Thompson over the
course of his close to seven years in the fight game, Mora
is ready to make his move on the world’s elite. In his last
bout, he won the vacant IBA junior welterweight crown by
blasting the 15-1-1 Thompson out in just 82 seconds, and on
September 18th, he’s looking to make a statement against
Jauregui.
One of boxing’s truest warriors, Javier Jauregui (51-14-2,
35 KOs) has been fighting professionally since Adrian Mora
was just ten years old and has faced the elite in the game,
including Julio Diaz, Joan Guzman, Leavander Johnson,
Acelino Freitas, Jose Luis Castillo, Melee on the Mountain
IBA World Championship, and Jesus Chavez. But this 33-year
old from Guadalajara still has plenty of fight left in him,
and he is ready to begin on the road back to a world title,
as evidenced by his 2005 win over highly-touted prospect
Randy Suico.
Heading up the four bout undercard will be local hero
Gabriel Gil, who will put his 1-0 record on the line against
always tough Art Briceno (1-2). Madera’s Gil, a college
graduate who is now working on his MBA, burst on the pro
boxing scene in a big way on the first “Melee on the
Mountain” card in April, dropping unbeaten Julio Llamas en
route to an exciting four round decision win.
According to John Mayewski, President and CEO of Table
Mountain Casino, “We pride ourselves on providing the
ultimate entertainment value in the Central Valley and the
quality of this IBA Championship duel is solidifying that
reputation with Valley fight fans.”
