VIVIAN HARRIS RETAINS IBA BELT;  WARD WINS IBA HEAVYWEIGHT WORLD TITLE BELT! 

(JULY 16) Tonight on ESPN2 "Friday Night Fights", in Canton, Ohio, L & M Promotions, Vonda Ward, 6'6", now 14-0-0 (13KO) record, remained undefeated when she defeated Monica McGowan for the vacant  IBA World Heavyweight title, and "first" ever heavyweight championship bout in the United States.  In the MAIN EVENT, Vivian Harris retained his IBA Continental Jr. Welterweight title in a 12-round decision over durable Mexican Ubaldo Hernandez.  Harris is now 21-1-1 (15KO).

Cruzat TKO Briarslanov 

On October 6, in Santiago, Chile, IBA World Cruiserweight champion Carlos Cruzat of Chile used a jarring left hand to the body and a hard right to the chin on his way to a third round stoppage of Muslin Biarslanov.  Much like their first encounter earlier this year, Cruzat nearly ended matters late in round two when his left hand to the body hurt the game Russian.  Cruzats follow up punches had Biarslanov in deep trouble as the round ended.  Midway in round three, Cruzat landed a heavy right to the chin of his opponent.  As Biarslanov went into a defensive posture cruzat rained hard punches from both sides forcing referee Marty Denkin to call a halt to the action.  With this his third title defense Cruzat improves to 26-5-19KO overall.   

Eidy May new champion

On October 14, at the La Villa Real S.E.C. in Mcallen, Texas - Vacant IBA World Bantamweight title - in a hotly contested affair Venezuela's Eidy Moya and Mexico's Adan Vargas traded knockdowns before Moya's big right hand dropped Vargas for the count at 1:21 of round eleven.  New Champion Moya improves to 15-1-8KO.  

Pendleton defeated Haracio Garcia

Pendleton wins IBA America's Welterweight Belt
OROVILLE (July 22) Freddie Pendleton, 38,  (47-25-5) made it a quick night tonight at the Feather Falls Casino, in Oroville, California, when he KO'd Haracio Garcia (12-3-1) 1:59 sec. of the first round. 

Mauricio Pastrana defeated Gerson Guerrero

Pastrana TKO'd Guerrero in 10th round!
TEXAS (July 14) In Houston, Texas, Colombian "Little Big Man" and defending International Boxing Association World Jr. Bantamweight champion Mauricio Pastrana recovered from a flash third round knockdown on his way to a convincing tenth round stoppage over world-rated Gerson Guerrero. Pastrana improved to 27-3, in this, his second title defense.

Fredrik Alvarez was stopped by Ashira

Denmark (June 16) In Bronby, Denmark, with unbeaten Armand Kkrajnc sidelined due to contractural problems,  up stepped hard-punching swedish middleweight Fredrik Alvarez to challenge Kenya's Evans Oure Ashira for the vacant International Boxing Association world middleweight title. In a stunning performance unbeaten Ashira stopped the well-respected Alvarez (38-4-25ko) at 2:59 of round eleven, becoming the first ever iba world middleweight champion. Ashira improved to 20-0 while recording his 11 knockout. Congratulations evans!!

Carlos Cruzat won IBA Cruiserweight Belt

CHILE (May 25) To the delight of 8,000 partisan fans, reigning IBA world Cruiserweight champion Carlos Cruzat scored a sixth round technical decision over muslin Biarslanov in Arica, Chile. Cruzat led on all cards at the conclusion but had to endure some rough moments from the tough Russian battler. Cruzat was at his best in round five as he battered Biarslanov from one side of the ring to another, and just as it appeared Cruzat would end the fight at any moment the Russian came back with a barrage of strong uppercuts and left hooks. In round six, the round started much like the previous five with both fighters meeting head first in the center of the ring. In the sixth, after an exchange of punches, both fighters’ heads came together causing a bad cut above Cruzat's left eye. Referee Marty Denkin called time and at the doctor’s request, he stopped the contest. It was a good win for Cruzat who looks forward to an all South American shootout with Argentine Marcello Dominquez.

Alejandro Montiel won IBA Flyweight Belt

On May 11, 2001, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Alejandro Montiel won the vacant IBA Flyweight World title with a unanimous decision against former WBO world champion Ruben Sanchez-Leon (24-9). Final judges scoring was 114-113, 116-111, and 115-112. Also, Sumya Anani (16-1-0 6KO) defeated with a una. Decision against Liz Mueller (5-2-0 2KO) for the vacant IBA 135 lb. World Championship title.  The judges scoring was 96-94, 98-92, and 99-91, all for Anani

Julian Letterlough lost IBA Belt

On February 2, 2001, Julio Gonzalez scored a 12-round unanimous decision against unbeaten Julian Letterlough after a action-packed fight which saw both light-heavyweights down several times.  Gonzalez, improved his record to 27-0 (16 KO). Letterlough, who lost his IBA title, suffered his first defeat as a pro and has a 15-1-1 (15).

Jorge Lacierva retains IBA Bantamweight Belt

On October 14, 2000, IBA bantamweight champion Jorge Lacierva defended and retained his title in a 12-round fight against Sergio Perez at Nashville, TN. Judges scored it 115-110, 114-110, 114-110. 

Corrales retains his Jr. Lightweight IBA Belt

On September 2, 2000, in El Paso, Texas, Diego "Chico" Corrales defended his IBA World title belt against Angle Manfredy.  Corrales made a quick night of the fight when he won by a TKO in the third round.  Tough-punching Corrales dominated the fight, and knocked Manfredy down in the first round with a clean left hook!  Corrales record improved to 33-0 (27 KO's) and remains undefeated, and Manfredy has dropped to33-5-1 (26 KO's).

Paulie Ayala defeated Johnny Tapia

 
  On October 7, 2000, in Las Vegas, Nevda, at the MGM, Paulie Ayala (31-1) defeated Johnny Tapia, (48-2-2).  A toe-to-toe twelve rounder, that entertained 6,681 bxing fans. Judges scoring was 116-112, 115-113, 115-113.

Carlos Cruzat TKO4  José Luis Rivera

On November 3, 2000, with  Chilean Carlos Cruzat  faced José Luis Rivera of Cleveland, Ohio.  Cruzat fought in his homeland and retained his IBA title by defeating Riviera with a TKO in the fourth round.  Cruzat's record improved to 26-5 (21KO), and Rivera's record 19-3 (15KO).

GARZA TKO'D CABRERA IN FOURTH ROUND
MEXICO (DEC 21) In in Cadereyta, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, in front of a crowd of 2,500, the boxing fans watched as unbeaten Juan 'Ringo' Garza improved to 16-0 with  15KO's with a fourth round (2:40) stoppage of Heriberto Cabrera. With his title win hard hitting Garza becomes the new IBA America's Lightweight Champion.

LOUISIANA (Dec 6) at the Sheraton Hotel, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Fast rising IBA America's jr. welterweight champion Juan Lopez stopped late sub Wayne Boudreaux in round four. lopez improves to 18-2-13KO's

CLEVELAND (OCT. 27) Last night at the historic Grays Armory, Vacant IA America's Jr. Middleweight title, Cleveland, Ohio Julian Buford scored a TKO victory over Robert West when West stayed on his stool for the start of Round Five. Buford improved his record to 11-0-1 (10KO).

RIVERA WINS VACANT IBA CONTINENTAL WELTERWEIGHT TITLE
FLORIDA (JAN 26) Last night at the Walter C. Young Pavilion, in Pembroke Pines, Mexican Cosme Rivera 22-7-2 (17KO) won by a unanimous decision over Florida’s Hicklet Lau, 17-7-2 (8KO) to capture the vacant IBA Continental Welterweight title. Lau was knocked down in the first round, and was easily defeated by Rivera. The final scoring was 119-108, 120-107, and 118-109. Also, IBA’s current bantamweight world champion Ada "The Ace" Velez stopped her opponent, Angie Bordelon early on in in the second round, keeping Velez undefeated with 10-0-0 (5KO).

ALCINE WINS VACANT IBA AMERICA'S JR. MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE

May 25, 2002, at the Lowes Motor Speedway, in
Charlotte, North Carolina, and promoted by Main Events & ShoBox. In his American television debut, unbeaten Joachim Alcine boxed smartly for eleven rounds but had to survive a 12th round knockdown before outscoring Marcos Primera easily o
n all cards.  New IBA America's Champion Alcine improves to 13-0-8KO.

reigning IBA Continental welterweight welterweight champion Cosme Rivera was an easy winner in his first title defense, scoring a near shut out against Puerto Rico's Wilfredo Negron
. Slick-boxing Rivera improves to 23-7-2.
