History is made as Mazimbaev
crushes Doria for the  Jr.  Bantamweight world title

October 14, 2005

On a cool October evening in the city of Almaty Kazakhstan Marat 'Sniper' Mazimbaev entered the record books as the first fighter ever from that
country to fight for and win a World title on home turf.

Using a style that can be best described as a 'Modified Kostya Tszyu' Mazimbaev ripped hard hooks to both the head and body of opponent Luis Doria from the opening bell.  To his credit Colombia's Doria remained game throughout and on more than one occasion stood his ground and traded with
the heavier handed Mazimbaev to the delight of the partisan crowd.

After ten rounds of action Mazimbaev led by large margins on all three cards with one judge, Doniyor Ergashen of Uzbekistan giving him every round to
lead by ten points going into what would be the bouts final round, round eleven.

Early in round eleven Mazimbaev landed a hard right hand that dropped Doria flat on his back. With referee Jon Schorle issuing the count over the fallen
Doria an overly exhuberant fan entered the ring prematurely and had to be removed from the ring.  With the situation under control and Doria now
upright on still unsteady legs referee Schorle stopped the contest at 26 seconds of round eleven giving Mazimbaev his World Title and a record that
shows 17 wins against 3 losses, 1 draw and 12 knockouts.  Congratulations Marat!! Promoter:  German Titov in association with 'TSC Group'.
Attendance:  5,000+.
