LOS ANGELES (July 28) The event
was held at the Staples Center, packed with 20,409 fans
attending the fight. Roy Jones Jr., fought and won the12-rd
vacant IBA World light-heavyweight title against undefeated
IBA Continental Lt. Heavyweight champion Julio
Gonzalez. Jones knocked Gonzalez down three times,
one in the first round, followed by a fifth-round and
final-round knockdown. Final Scoring 119-106, 118-107,
119-106. Jones improved his record to 45-1 with 36 knockouts.
Gonzalez is 27-1.
