WEAVER TKO’D MACKIE IN SIX ROUND AND GAINS THE IBA BELT!

LINCOLN CITY (Apr 21) There was a "Commotion at the Ocean II" at the Chinook Winds Casino when the casino staged an action-packed night of boxing. Tonight's card featured co-main events with Ron Weaver (21-6-0 21KOs) of New Orleans, Louisiana, who faced late replacement Bryon Mackie of Toronto, Canada (17-8-0 11Kos) for the 12-round 160-lb IBA Intercontinental Middleweight Championship.

In the men's event, Ron Weaver proved to be too much for Canadian Bryon Mackie, as Weaver stalked his opponent through out most of the rounds, picking his shots at will. Mackie’s offense of throwing punches, had little if no effect on the much more powerful Weaver. In the fifth round, Mackie took an eight-count from some slick combinations by Weaver. In the sixth round, with Weaver’s quick punches, he over-powered Mackie, and the ref stepped in and stopped the fight at 2:39 of that round. Weaver was declared the new 160-lb IBA Intercontinental Middleweight champion.
