Retooled Bailey takes Title
(OCT 14) At the Seminole Hard Rock Live Arena in Hollywood, Florida former 2-time World Champion Randall Bailey won his sixth straight bout, stopping New Mexico's Shawn Gallegos while taking home the IBA Continental Jr. Welterweight title.  Gallegos, a late substitute for Cesar Bazan, tried to trade punches with the heavy handed Bailey and paid the price. With Bailey landing punches at will  referee Tommy Kimmons stopped the one sided bout at 1:55 of round eight, improving Baileys record to 34-5-1 with 31 KO's..  Promoter:  Warriors Boxing

Last night in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in front of a packed house of over 2,500, Holly Holm, 140,  successfully defended her IBA Jr. Welterweight title, against Jane Couch, 140, of the UK.  The judges scores were 100-90 on all cards.  The card was promoted by Fresquez Productions, Inc.

(SEPT 12) With his recent loss to IBF Champion Light-Heavyweight Clinton Woods the IBA has vacated the title formerly held Glen Johnson.  Johnson shall enter the IBA World Ratings in October as a contender and is still eligible to compete for IBA honors in the future.

Abner Mares is set to fight this Friday in Chicago, at the Arogan Ballroom, and Jhonny Gonzales from Mexico will be fighting Saturday at the MGM undercard on the Barrera card. As a baseball player, Dean Chance was a hard-throwing, right-handed starting pitcher with an unorthodox twisting windup. The Wooster, Ohio, native was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in 1960 when he was only 19-years-old. Derrick 'Smoke' Gainer shook off sixteen months of inactivity to eek out a split decision win over resilient veteran Phillip Payne last night at the Paragon Casino in Marksville, Louisiana.  Gainer won on two cards by scores of 116-112 -115-113 while losing on the third at 112-116.  With his win Gainer takes home the IBA America's Lightweight Title. (JULY 28) In front of a national viewing audience watching on Spanish station 'Telefutura'  IBA  Jr. Featherweight World Champion Al Seeger destroyed former Mexican Olympian Cesar Morales in less than two rounds, scoring one knockdown enroute.  Seeger's dominant performance may go much further than just career win #27 however. With talks set to begin in a matter of weeks the Savannah favorite could find himself in the ring with one of the division's marquee fighters in a title unification bout in early fall. With five opponents falling out for various reasons Lafarrell Bunteng took his out his frustration on very late sub Carlos Bates, knocking down his over matched foe twice on his way to a first round TKO win.  In scoring his fifteenth knockout in fifteen career wins Bunteng looks more than ready for a step-up in competition. (APR 23) After two bouts and twenty two near even rounds between them, Sacramento's Rogelio Castaneda made things look easy in his third bout with Ohio's Craig Weber, dropping his overmatched opponent late in round four with a hard right hand.  Weber returned to his corner on unsteady legs where his corner and the ringside physician called a halt to the action before the start of the fifth round giving Castaneda the TKO win in this the second defense of his IBA Jr. Welterweight World title. At the Mountaineer Racetrack in Chester, West Virginia,  IBA Featherweight World Champion Jose Gonzalez made a successful first defense of his crown with a 1:32 seconds,  fourth knockout of unbeaten IBA America's Jr. Lightweight Champion Verquan Kimbrough. Gonzalez dropped Kimbrough early in round four but it was the second knockdown in the fourth that kept Kimbrough down for good. Gonzalez moves to 13-2 with this win his sixth win by knockout.

Tennessee Commission claims hands are tied and must abide by decision in the ring. The IBA chooses to do the right thing. Is anyone listening??  The old adage ‘If something can go wrong, it usually does’ seems a perfect fit for last weeks IBA Title Fight in Nashville, Tennessee.   Full Story

(APR 7) Dean Chance and the International Boxing Association has withdrawn title recognition from America's Middleweight Champion David Lopez for failure to defend within the specified timeframe.  Lopez won his title on 5-5-05 with a twelve round win over Danny Perez and failed to defend his crown.  Lopez
maintains his IBA World rating.

The International Boxing Association has requested videotape of Friday nights highly controversial vacant World Cruiserweight Title match in Nashville, Tennessee between Bobby Gunn and Shelby Gross, a bout won by Gross by second round TKO.  Copies of the videotape will be made available to ABC President Tim Lueckenhoff, The State of Tennessee's Executive Director of Athletics and Regulatory oversight and to the Attorney General of the State of Tennessee.  Full Story

(APR 1) With more controversy than any one boxing match should have Shelby Gross stunned prefight favorite Bobby Gunn by second round TKO to win the vacant IBA Cruiserweight World Title. Gross was down twice in the opening round and appeared to have been the beneficiary of an extremely long count after
the second knockdown by referee Freddy Boges. What would follow next can be viewed in it's entirety on fightbeat.com. You
be the judge. Immediately after the fight Team Gunn filed an official protest with the IBA. The IBA has requested videotape of the fight and after viewing will decide on the proper course of action if any. More to follow.

(MAR 25) Tonight at the Grand Victoria Casino in Rising Sun, Terri “The Road Warrior” Blair  stopped Sumya “The Hawaiian Girl” Anani in the tenth round, and became the new IBA welterweight world  champion.

(JAN 21) Tonight in Kinder, Louisiana, Wendy Rodriguez won by a split decision and the vacant IBA Jr. Flyweight belt, over Carina Moreno, after the fight ended in the sixth due to a headbutt that Rodriguez received (accidental).
