(MAR 14) Unbeaten Anders Hugger became the new IBA Continental
Cruiserweight Champion with a hard fought twelve round unanimous decision
win over the always tough Louis Azille last night in Odense, Denmark.
Hugger was down in round nine but his greater work rate throughout carried
the day on all scorecards. Scores were: 116-112 and 115-113
twice all for Anders Hugger. Hugger improves to 10-0 with his title

'Sweet' Johnson gained a controversial twelve round split
decision win over former WBO Light-Heavyweight Champion to
take home the IBA World Light-Heavyweight title.
Johnson won on two cards at 115-113 and 116-112 while
Gonzalez impressed the third judge in winning 112-116.

Racing & Casino, in Hallandale, Florida, Berry Butler and
Sam Reese traded knockdowns in a wild opening two rounds
before Butler emerged the winner by unanimous decision in
the first round of the IBA America's Light heavyweight
Championship. Butler found himself on the deck in the
opening round but turned the the tables on Reese with two

(DEC 7) Following his ten round
non-title loss to rated contender Demetrius Hopkins the
International Boxing Association has withdrawn title
recognition from Champion Rogelio Castaneda. Castaneda
won his title by decision against Tomas Barrientes and
recorded knockout wins over Ernesto Zepeda and Craig
Weber in his two successful title defenses. The IBA
thanks Mr. Castaneda for his contribution to betterment of
the organization and wishes him much success in the future.

(NOV 29) At the 'Sports Palace' in Kazan, Russia this past
Saturday night,Vladimir Zikov (Zee-Kov) pitched a near
shut-out against tough Mexican Jose Juan Bermejo (20-3-2)
winning by TKO when Bermejo could not continue after round
ten. Bermejo had his moments but it was the unbeaten Zikov
who controlled the tempo from start to finish leading on all
cards by scores of 100-90, 99-91 and 100-90 when Bermejo's
corner called a halt to the action. Zikov improves to

Daniel “The Sandman” Maldonado,
20-2 (13), edged Jose “The Terminator” Gonzales by split
decision, 116-111, 114-113, and 111-116 to take the IBA
featherweight title last night at The Orleans Hotel and
Casino in Las Vegas. The Kentuckian Maldonado was floored in
round five but came on strong in the final third of the
fight to squeeze out the win. 15 Rounds saw the fight
114-113 for Gonzales.

Haskins Arena in El Paso, Texas, on the HBO PPV card, Daniel
Ponce De Leon won by an 1:43 seconds, eighth round TKO over
Al Seeger. De Leon improved to 30-1, scoring the 28th
early stoppage of his boxing career. De Leon won the IBA Jr.
Featherweight world title belt.

Bobby Gunn (16-2, 13 ko’s) won the vacant IBA World Cruiserweight Title
Saturday at the LCO Casino in Hayward, WI. The main event featured Gunn who
realized his dream, with a decisive win over Shannon Landberg, now 58-12-3,
26ko’s, in the 7th round. Referee Steve Smoger the third man in the ring,
lived up to his World Class reputation and controlled the action from the
opening bell allowing the “fighters to fight,” while delivering a fair and
exciting title match to the world.

Gross left the ring in Nashville, Tennessee a winner with the IBA
Cruiserweight title firmly wrapped around his waist. Since then, there has
been more dramatics outside the ropes than what when on inside them. The IBA
received written protests from Joe McEwen, a boxing promoter who has served
as an announcer for the event, and Richard King, manager of Bobby Gunn over

twenty two near even rounds between them, Sacramento's
Rogelio Castaneda made things look easy in his third
bout with Ohio's Craig Weber, dropping his
overmatched opponent late in round four with a hard right
hand. Weber returned to his corner on unsteady legs
where his corner and the ringside physician called a halt to
the action before the start of the fifth round giving
Castaneda the TKO win in this the second defense of his IBA

Champion Jose Gonzalez made a successful first
defense of his crown with a 1:32 seconds, fourth
knockout of unbeaten IBA America's Jr. Lightweight Champion
Verquan Kimbrough. Gonzalez dropped Kimbrough early
in round four but it was the second knockdown in the fourth
that kept Kimbrough down for good. Gonzalez moves to 13-2
with this win his sixth win by knockout.

(APR 7) Dean Chance and the
International Boxing Association has withdrawn title
recognition from America's Middleweight Champion David
Lopez for failure to defend within the specified
timeframe. Lopez won his title on 5-5-05 with a twelve
round win over Danny Perez and failed to defend his
crown. Lopez

boxing match should have Shelby Gross stunned prefight favorite Bobby Gunn
by second round TKO to win the vacant IBA Cruiserweight World Title. Gross
was down twice in the opening round and appeared to have been the
beneficiary of an extremely long count after
the second knockdown by referee Freddy Boges.What would follow next

City IBA World Heavyweight Champion James Toney retained his
title with a twelve round majority draw with #2 contender
Hasim Rahman. Punch stats were nearly even with Rahman
throwing more punches overall than Toney but with Toney
landing cleaner and with a higher connect percentage. Rahman
won on one card at 117-111 while the other two judges saw
things even at 114-114.
Roberto "La Amenaza" Garcia's late
round assault highlighted by a knockdown in the final round
gave local favorite Garcia a well earned win on all cards
over the defending Continental Welterweight Champion Juan
Carlos Rubio at the La Villa Real Special Events Center in
McAllen, Texas.

25) In a wild fight Holly Holm defended her IBA Welterweight title with a
seventh round stoppage over Shadina Pennybaker at Isleta Casino outside
Albuquerque, New Mexico. The fight was halted after Pennybaker suffered a
cut over her right eye, which caused the fight to be stopped. Pennybaker and
her camp felt Holm used her head to cause the cut, which was the second cut

fought through the pain of a hurt right hand and a very
aggressive Thomas Damgaard (Denmark) to take home the
vacant IBA World Welterweight Title this past Saturday night
at a sold out Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Gatti's led on all cards after ten rounds by scores of
100-90 - 99-91 - and 98-92 but it was his right hand late in
round eleven that prompted referee Lindsay paige to call a
halt at 2:54 of the round with Damgaard on unsteady legs.
